Deborah is an attorney, Florida Supreme Court certified family court mediator and Guardian Ad Litem in the State of Florida and Gurdian ad Litem in the State of Georgia. Deborah was born in Kingston, Jamaica to parents who migrated with her 4 siblings to Philadelphia, PA in the early 1970s. Deborah was a middle child and used that experience to excel at an early age in school and was driven to perfection in her education. After relocating to South Florida in 1982, Deborah attended Boyd Anderson H.S. in Lauderdale Lakes where she participated in many extracurricular activities and developed strong ties to the community. With a strong urge to continue her education, Deborah attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama where she became of member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in May 1992. While studying at ASU, one of Deborah ‘s professors suggested that she consider law as a career leading Deborah to seek admission to the University of Miami’s School of Law. Deborah graduated cum laude from ASU and accepted a full tuition scholarship to UM Law. Excited to return to South Florida, Deborah attended the University of Miami and excelled in the university’s litigation skills program where she earned top honors and received the American Board of Trial Advocates Award, which is a cash award given each spring to the top third year minority law student who has shown excellence in becoming a civil trial lawyer.
Attorney Pino graduated from UM Law with a juris doctorate degree in May 1996 and was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida. She also became a member of the District Courts in the Southern District of Florida, District of Columbia Bar and the Seminole Tribal Court. Her legal career began in the Florida Attorney General’s Office as an attorney in the Child Support Enforcement division in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Deborah has conducted thousands of child support establishment and child support and alimony enforcement bench trials during her time with this office. After promotion to a Senior Attorney position and serving as acting Managing Attorney in that division, Deborah was offered a position as Senior Attorney enforcing support for all of Broward County, Florida. It was during her time with Broward County, that Deborah decided to open her own firm. The Law Offices of Deborah Pino, P.A. was founded in February 2005 where Attorney Pino currently practices family law, which includes paternity, divorce, adoption, child support enforcement and modification. The firm also handles personal injury matters and simple probate. The passion Deborah has for children has steered her in the direction of providing a voice for our youth and she has been trained to serve as a Guardia Ad Litem in all Florida Courts. Recognizing the importance of competent representation in non-traditional venues, Ms. Pino become a member of the Seminole Tribal Court.
Deborah is a mother of two adult daughters and served as a Girl Scout Troop leader for over 25 years. She has been a guest speaker for local bar associations and paralegal courses at Broward Community College. Ms. Pino has also served as a guest instructor for the University of Miami School of Law's Florida Family Law: Complex Financial Issues course on several different occasions. In addition to her role as the managing partner in her firm, Deborah has developed and taught a Florida Bar approved Continuing Legal Education class regarding child support enforcement and has recently joined The Collective, a legal and crisis management firm in an of-counsel capacity.
